Job Description

MRI Software is seeking a dynamic and adaptable AI/ML Product Owner to join our Product Management team. This is not a traditional Product Owner role – it requires a curious, hands-on innovator who actively uses the latest AI tools to get work done faster and smarter, prioritizing outcomes over heavy process or documentation. The PO will manage a blended backlog of innovation prototypes and production-ready features, working closely with engineers, stakeholders, and leadership to shape and validate AI-driven solutions. Success in this role means embracing experimentation, rapidly prototyping ideas, flexing across product and technical tasks, and ensuring the right concepts move forward with speed and clarity.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Define Product Vision & Roadmap – Translate business goals into AI/ML-driven concepts, balancing POC experimentation and production-ready features aligned with company strategy.
• Prioritize the Backlog – Manage a blended backlog of innovation prototypes and delivery features, ensuring the highest-value items are advanced while keeping overhead light.
• Bridge Tech and Business Teams – Liaise with stakeholders, engineers, and SMEs, providing clarity while flexing into hands-on exploration (prompt testing, dataset validation) as needed.
• Convert Ideas into User Stories – Write right-sized stories/acceptance criteria, adapting detail level to context (lightweight for prototypes, fuller for delivery features).
• Collaborate with Engineers – Partner with AI/ML engineers on shaping objectives, datasets, and evaluation goals, contributing directly where possible.
• Evaluate Model Performance & Impact – Support the Tech Lead in validating AI outputs (accuracy, usability, fairness, ROI).
• Agile Practices – Lead fit-for-purpose agile ceremonies, optimized for speed and learning rather than heavy process.
• Manage Stakeholder Expectations – Clearly communicate experiment results, trade-offs, and delivery timelines.
• Validate Deliverables – Ensure features (POC or production) meet business needs and user expectations.
• Flex Across Roles – Contribute as a generalist (data wrangling, analysis, user testing, documentation) when team priorities require.

Key Skills Required

• 5–12 years’ industry experience in product or technical roles.
• Solid understanding of AI/ML fundamentals and their business applications.
• Strong backlog and stakeholder management experience.
• Adaptability to work in both experimental and delivery environments.
• Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, SQL, Python, and Azure platforms.
• Excellent communication, with a bias toward hands-on problem solving.

Education: 

• Bachelor’s/master’s degree in software engineering, Computer Science, or a related area
